Pressure Management
Calming networks, reducing leakage and short duration bursts
Using our experience in pressure management design, through the use of network modelling software using calibrated models, data loggers and GIS, to valve supply, we have been able to realise the benefits of good pressure management to calm the network to reduce leakage and bursts.
Good design incorporates the correct size and type of PRV for the area supplied. Ensuring that demand is met autonomously as required, but reducing flow and pressure during periods of low demand.
Designing autonomous network security within pressure management, also helps to reduce the risk associated with asset failure and supply interruption. A network that can automatically manage itself providing an increased level of network reliability, customer experience and maintaining supply in your network, this creates a truly smart network with correct sensor technology.
Good pressure management will significantly improve supply interruption performance, reduce leakage, and total production costs. All of this provides reputational and financial reward for your business, meeting customer and regulatory performance measures.

Example case study; network models at Bournemouth Water (BW), a total of 2Ml/d saving was achieved on leakage levels and supply interruption reduced by almost 50%. BW already had excellent leakage and SI reporting levels, but was further improved with good pressure management, network calming and providing a degree of automation with multi feed DMA’s.
